THE QUEEN OF THE NIGHT

Costume renderings from costume design course work. This exercise examines four different designs for the Queen of the Night character from Mozart's The Magic Flute:

A conventional design- utilizing ideas from original or common interpretations

Japanese Empress- examining the character in the context of a different place and time

1900 Moulin Rouge dancer- placement of the character within a different social strata

1700's King of the Night- considering the character through the lens of divergent gender
