REUPHOLSTERED CHAIR

Fabric is a wonderfully versatile material, and while we most often think about fabric in regards to clothing, it is also a common component of furniture. This reupholstering project was an excellent challenge to think about how fabric can be used as a structural component to provide both support and comfort while maintaining a clean, polished look when not in use.

One particular challenge came from the fabric buttons on the seat back, as the fabric proved to be too thick to use with a commercially available fabric button kit. I ended up hand sewing the buttons using the same method which is frequently used for medieval clothing reconstructions.
